Hi, everyone. Here's my second tutorial video for Blender. This one is just a basic exercise, focusing on some techniques, and working with a few useful modeling features in Blender. This is one of those "topmod" style objects, using the Bridge Edge Loops tool to create a high genus polyhedron bow. It's a quick example, and just one of those "fun" demonstrations that might be a good way to practice using hotkeys, or experimenting with different combinations of modeling tools. I try to model at least one object a day just for fun, even if I i'm in the middle of a project, as a warm up for the day. This is the kind of thing I'll usually play around with. Here's a link to the video:
Have fun with it, and feel free to experiment on your own at the end. Try stacking modifiers, or editing the surface polys and creating some fun shapes! Might even come up with something useful as a pendant for a necklace, or earrings for a character? The possibility is yours. Unfortunately, as with the previous tutorial, I haven't yet fixed my mic, but there are annotations through this video, clarifying all of the steps I'm doing. Be sure to have Youtube annotations enabled. Hope you enjoy it.

Twisted Heart | Easy 3d Modeling | Blender 3.0
It doesn't get more simple than this. In preparation for Valentine's Day, I thought I'd share this quick and easy technique in Blender. The result is a stylized heart with a Mobius-like twist. Since the result is actually a watertight solid shape, this could be exported for 3d printing or used in any number of design projects. If you want to try a 3d print, just keep in mind the scale and thickness values of the object. I haven't illustrated that here, but many of my other videos go into detail about how to set up a scene for modeling to scale for 3d printing. Since the base of this shape is extremely low poly, it can be used in mograph or animation very easily. In fact, the turntable animation example at the beginning was rendered with Eevee in about 2 minutes.
Alien Botany - Species 2 - Blender Animation
Second installment to the Alien Botany series. I know it's been a while, but I started playing around with Geometry Nodes in Blender 3.0 and wanted to make something that used them. I'm only a novice when it comes to Geometry Nodes, so it was just a matter of taking advantage of the instancing features and also some of the cool effects that can be created using them. Some of this stuff can be done with basic particles too, but I found that the nodes offer a lot more control for certain things, and thus they were used for this animation.

Hi, everyone. Been a long time since I last posted anything here. Hopefully, I'll be around more often now. I hope everyone is doing well. Happy New Year to you all, and may this year be met with health and success for us all. I'd like to share my latest video on Youtube. Again, it has been quite a while since I posted a "tutorial" video. This one isn't quite a tutorial as much as it is a walkthrough of a modeling process. It's done in Blender 3.0, and I have Screencast Keys enabled. You can see the mouse buttons and the keystrokes in the lower right hand side of the viewport. Thank you for watching and stay tuned for more content in this new year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7T3q_822mo

Hmm. This actually makes me wanna download and try out Blender again. Looking at the video, it doesn't seem to be that hard, and there's some really nice tools there. Last time I tried Blender, which was probably about a year ago or more, I ran scared, with my head in my hands, crying for my mommy. That software is SCAARRY! Waaay too complex for me. But you make it look easy, as you do with your 3dsmax stuff too. Great work, John.
