UPDATE: 4/25/2015!  I've created a tutorial for this object also using Blender 2.74.  This Blender tutorial translates the techniques used in my 3dsmax video, to Blender.  The process here is virtually the same, with only some minor differences in workflow and tool function.  Be sure you have the Add Mesh: Extra Objects add-on enabled in User Preferences.  This tutorial depends on the Math Functions > Solids script in Blender to follow along.

In the followig tutorial, I'll demonstrate an easy method to modeling a floral-style star ball, without any add-ons or plugins.  This is an addendum to my previous star ball tutorial, in which we used a tool that was very specific to 3dsmax.  The workflow presented in this example is universal to most 3d modeling techniques, and could easily translate to any capable polygon modeling package; like Maya, Modo, or Blender.  Hopefully you'll find this video fun and useful in some way, and maybe learn something interesting.  Please don't forget to subscribe to my channel for many more modeling tutorials.  Thank you, and enjoy.

This is great, John!  How you've managed to master the UI's and workflows in both Blender and 3dsmax, I'll never know!  I have enough problems learning just one software.  The shape is very beautiful too.  I only wish you had a tut for this in Modo as well. Surely you can learn another software.  hehe.  Giggle
