Modeled in 3dsmax after following a really cool tutorial on some advaned lofting techniques. It's basically the exact technique used in the tutorial, so the shape isn't really my own unique "happy accident", but it came out kinda cool. Rendered in Octane.

Nice organic material, love the backlight. From the technical POV the model could have a one more subdivision level because it's rough in places.

Thanks. Yes, I definitely should have increased the density of the tessellation for a smoother surface. Maybe if I ever revisit this scene, I'll make those corrections.

Thanks. Yeah, the SSS is awesome, and really cleans up quickly, even on my low end graphics card. Very impressed with it also.

I love the translucent rubbery quality to this piece ... it appears that if it were physically depressed it would slowly return to its former shape. Well done! :)

THanks! Yep, this one was intentionally supposed to represent a kind of synthetic rubber/soft plastic.

Thanks, Tony. Yeah, using this kind of translucent material, if rendered in Luxrender with SSS, would have taken me probably 24 hours or more to get a clean result. It cleaned up very quickly in Octane. Only took like 2 hours to get this result at 5000 samples per pixel.

Nice translucence! What's odd to me is that I could tell it was Octane, but not why I could tell. I looked into Octane for a while, and so I studied the Octane gallery for a while.

The shape is very interesting. I think the tutorial worked really well for you.
