Modeled in 3dsmax, rendered in Luxrender v1.0
Made extensive use of the incredible maxscript plugin,
Super Poly Bridge v1.4 to create this object, which had humble beginnings as a rectangle primitive shape. It reminded me of a roller-coaster ride of sorts, thus the inspiration for the title of the image.

The background is very simply a NURBS CV surface, with Delaunay surface approximation. The faces were inset, then offset with extrusion, to create a "cracked earth" appearance. That part was very simple. I kinda needed simple after all the complex bridging operations of the main obeject, which took me no less than 4 hours to accomplish properly. haha. More to come.
Very cool image !
