Helicoid Table

Modeled in 3dsmax. Rendered in LuxRender (v1.0RC4).

Began as a minimal surface Helicoid shape created with Mathsurf 2 plugin for 3dsmax. Applied several modifiers, including squeeze, twist, and shell. Thought it would look interesting as an contemporary art style table, so added a base and set up a quick empty room to stage it. Parents warning, it's not child-safe.

Rendered with the latest Luxrender release candidate (4).

I realize it's just a simple scene, but I thought it worth posting anyway, if nothing else to show my first render with the newest RC of Lux. Not that there were any real significant changes between RC3 and 4, but this may be the last RC before the final release, and I was finally able to use GPU accelleration without it crashing at least once. Really saw a difference in render time.
